Michael Corner: Padma had a crush on Michael for about a year. She has gone past that, but still considers Michael on of her dearest friends.

Anthony Goldstein: Padma considers Anthony one of her closest friends. He is someone who always makes her feel better, and is protective of her

Luna Lovegood: the only other Ravenclaw girl in the DA, Padma tends to feel somewhat protective of Luna, especially after she was harmed by the Headmaster.

Morag MacDougal: One of Padma's room-mates and closest friend. Morag is the one who always tries to get Padma to 'loosen up' just a little bit. Morag is also the only person who knows about her relationship with Theo Nott

Parvati Patil: Padma's twin sister, who she confides everything in. Well, almost everything. Padma joined the DA on her sister's reccomendation.

Theodore Nott: Pubically, she is very cordial to Theo. However, she is in a secret relationship with the quiet Slytherin and cares very deeply for him.

P H Y S I C A L
Padma has black, glossy hair, and very unusual dark hazel eyes that sometimes look violet in a certain light. She wears her dark hair either pulled back or in a single or dual plaits. Padma is a little more on the conservative side in dress than her more outgoing twin. She tends to wear subdued colours, with very little make-up on her face. Many people consider Padma one of the prettiest girls in Hogwarts, though she doesn't think that herself.

'Padma' is Sanskrit for 'lotus flower'. Lotus flowers have long been held sacred from remotest antiquity by the Aryan Hindus, as well as revered in other lands such as Egypt and China. The lotus flower is one of the totems of the goddess Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth, fortune, love and beauty, and fertility.

Padma leans heavily towards the spiritual beliefs of her mother, practicing a sort of psuedo-Hindism that takes into account her magical ability. She is a strong believer that everything has an 'aman' or 'ashima'. Though she is not a vegetarian, she does follow many Hindu customs and when she goes to formal events instead of formal robes, she wears brightly colored sari. She is known to use Hindu deities (especially Shiva and Lakshmi) as epitaths. Her twin, Parvati, tends to be more secular, though the Patil family does celebrate traditional Christian holidays, like Easter and Christmas.

Padma often sports a bindi, a forehead decoration worn in South and Southeast Asia. Traditionally it is a dot of red color applied in the center of the forehead close to the eyebrows, but it can also consist of a sign or piece of jewelry worn at this location. Once only worn by married Hindu women, bindi are now more acceptable to be worn of many unmarried East Indian and other South and Southeast Asian women. Padma usually wears the traditional vermillion pigment, but for special occasions she wears a jewelled bindi made of precious gems.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
She is a very even-tempered, quiet and shy girl. She doesn't like to call undue attention to herself unless she has to. Padma is the mediator and the peacemaker, always trying to see all sides of the story and to be the one who can find a middle ground. It is rare that she will 'put her foot down' on anything, unless it is something she simply will not do or feels very strongly about. She has a very dry sense of humour, and can take a joke better than people expect her to be able to. Rarely overly emotional, Padma often covers her mouth to hide her giggling or smiling.
